Obviously there have been very many good games for the last ten, twenty years, that gave us heart touching moments. Such that make you remember the game when all the other consumer mainstream stuff has sunken into oblivion. It’s not only about epic stories like Dragon Age or Mass Effect, not just cineastic epiphanies as seen in Diablo all along or in Far Cry 3, it’s about moments that reach the very heart and Soul. I know that every one of you gamers knows such unforgettable scenes. With this blog entry here are mine. Comments and new contributions of course and as ever very welcome.
#5: Final Fantasy VIII – The Ballroom Scene
Very, very ancient clip. FF8 hit market in 1999 I think. Every time I see this guy trying to dance, it reminds me of my own dancing class and a very special person. This scene is perfect in every detail and resembles pretty much both: game and reality ;-)
#4: Knights of the Old Republic: Bastilla’s Return
Kotor was an impressive game in whole with very many unecpected turns and an unmatched storyline. The one moment I’ll remember for all time is when facing Bastilla on top of the ancient temple. Until then she came all the way along with the main character, fighting the bad guys, but now turned to the dark side herself. And this demands for an epic showdown …
#3: Timesplitters Future Perfect – Saving Kitten Celest
Being a Shooter, Timesplitters FP makes big fun of the whole genre. The shooter itself is all the opposite of outstanding. The cutscenes were what made me ROFTL in the true sense of the acronym. Best gaming moment – the one I’ll always remember – is saving Kitten Celest from the nearing train … that wasn’t even close
#2: Last of Us – Sarah’s Death
That scene was with no doubt overwhelming. At the very begining of the game, the main character and his daugther fled from the zombie apocalypse, just to be stopped at a military check point. Following his orders to not let pass any civilian, the soldier opens fire on the two …
#1 Bioshock Inifinite – Elizabeth’s Song
With all the hunting, shooting and killing, that the main character and the girl he is protecting, have to face, there is this one scene, when they come to rest, and Elizabeth raises moods by singing that little tune I was then humming for days and still do.
How about you?
And that’s all I remember folks. Of coarse is much more, even much more epic impressions. And you sure have those highlight moments yourself, don’t you? Hope to hear from your own gaming experiences.
